MGM Pictures Fun Fact: Elvis had a new look in this film, he used suits instead of other outfits. Fans went crazy because it was rumored at this time that, Elvis would were the slacks loosely because at the time he didn't where underwear. ------------------------------------------------------------ Mike (Elvis) and Danny (Gary Lockwood) fly a crop duster, but because of Danny's gambling debts, a local sheriff takes custody of it. Trying to earn money, they hitch-hike to the World's Fair in Seattle. While Danny tries to earn money playing poker, Mike takes care of a small girl, Sue-Lin, whose father has disappeared. Being a ladies' man, he also finds the time to court a young nurse, Diane (Joan O'Brien). Chief among the delights that transcend the vanilla flavor of the picture is a scene between The King and the lovely Yvonne Craig in which the former croons the tune "Relax" while the latter deftly evades his prowling lips and paws. The soundtrack boasts two beautiful ballads I'm Falling In Love Tonight and They Remind Me Too Much Of You.

Released: 1963 Paramount Pictures Available on DVD & VHS Fun Fact: Elvis was well known for his rebel and unafraid nature, but no one took him seriously when he announced he would do the circus stunt himself without a double in his place. The crew was relieved to hear he would not jump off the "La Pearla" cliff which was done by a stunt man. ------------------------------------------------------------ Elvis plays Mike Windgren, who is running away from a family trapeze act accident. He is hired as a life guard and singer. Elsa Cardenas, a lady bullfighter, wants Mike's attention. The beautiful Ursula Andress plays hard to get. Mike gets over his fear of heights by diving off one of the local landmark cliffs. The eleven song soundtrack of Latin-beat ditties includes "You Can't Say No In Acapulco" and the million plus selling "Bossa Nova Baby". Fun Fact: with the exception of the 136 ft dive, Elvis did all his own stunts including the circus routine.

Released: 1964 MGM Pictures Available on VHS Fun Fact: since Elvis played two roles he brought in more income than any other picture or actor that year. This movie set a precedent for time on filming - four weeks. ------------------------------------------------------------ Kissin' Cousins has Elvis appearing in a dual role as a soldier (Josh Morgan) and a hillbilly (Jodie Tatum.) The story revolves around the armed forces attempts to take ownership of a backwoods mountain in order to build a military base, but the Tatum family who own and live on the mountain have resisted all previous attempts. The forces send in Josh Morgan (Elvis) when they discover he is a distant relative of the Tatum's. The film includes exciting fist-fights, surrealistically phony mountain and forest studio sets, hapless choreography, and gorgeous Yvonne Craig as one of the backwoods spitfires who tries to capture Josh's heart.

Released: 1964 Paramount Pictures Available on VHS & DVD Fun Fact: the character that would be played by Barbara Stanwyck was originally going to be given to Mae West. ------------------------------------------------------------ Elvis plays a coffee bar singer who has a fight and takes off on his motorcycle. He gets a job as a Roustabout in the carnival run by (Barbara Stanwyck). He falls for a pretty girl (Joan Freeman) and his singing soon makes the rundown carnival a success. Deciding to quit after a fight with a customer and his romance going badly, Elvis leaves to take up an offer from another carnival. With his departure the show takes a nose dive and soon the creditors are knocking on the door. There is only one chance left. Joan goes after Elvis and persuades him to return and save the carnival. He does so, learning the meaning of hard work and true love. |
